For me this style of picture looks better in 16x9 format. So I agree with Dave.

Cropping will tend to make the beach appear longer as well.

I would go for the second more panoramic edit which concentrates the view and you haven't lost anything really important from the sky.

I sincerely think it is so much better looking...although I would not mind if you did not crop it either because it is your shot, you choice. You can't please everyone. You have to please yourself. Just my thought.

Barbara, I live in South Australia by the beach. We have similar light during Spring and Autumn. The beauty of sunrise and sunset over the water is simply, to use a much misused word today, Awesome.

Wish we had a beach house instead of a 45 minute drive. Maybe someday........
