    Judy B. in Kensington

Recently re-discovered in my slide collection while preparing a photo essay on our kids and their friends when they were younger.
Probably taken in Kensington Market (the telephone pole is the clue), this is another shot of our good friends oldest daughter Judy, a life-long friend of our Son and his wife.
    motorized Nikon FE-2
Nikkor 105 2.5 AI manual focus
    Ektachrome 100 ISO colour slide
    probably 2.8 @ 1/500th

It must be so enjoyable for your family to see such wonderful images. I really like the shadow tones in this image, almost as if she is trying to hide within the shadows. Many people would be tempted to brighten those tones, especially in the sockets of her eyes but this works really well for me as is.

    Thanks Mike.
One of the many reasons I dislike Digital photography is its Hyper-realism: everything is too perfect.
It reminds me of the paintings of Ken Danby, and I like his work. But I dislike that look in every single Digital shot. It becomes boring.
I have no problem with the narrower latitude of my slides or the graininess that some shots have. In fact I like that look.
