The corniest of all corny subjects

Now that fresh corn on the cob has become available in my area this week, I look forward to enjoying it regularly and often in the coming months.

EDIT:A second photo has been added later in the thread.

    Setup
The background is black velvet. A medium continuous-light lamp fitted with a diffusion sock to reduce its brightness is on the rear left. A black card between it and the camera eliminates flare. A white reflector in the right front area redirects light from the rear lamp onto the right front area of the corn. A small continuous-light lamp on the left brightens the kernels and defines their shape by creating shadows on their right. A flash unit set to low power in the right rear area and above the scene back lights the top leaves and some of the silk. A black card placed between the flash and camera eliminates flare. A reflector at a 45-degree angle to the tabletop in the left front area and above the scene redirects light from the flash onto the brown area at the top of the silk.

So are those hairs still considered "fly aways" ? Well executed Mike. The yellows are so natural.

You are right, it is a "corny subject". But, it is a really well done corny subject. If it tastes as good as this image looks
you are in a win win situation.

Mike, the 'stringy bits' are well done. The corny thing looks very delectable. Beautifully done. I now need to do some housework or my wife will have a cornary
    Cheers Ole

Some would say they're a great example of a bad hair day.

    Setup
A small continuous-light lamp is on the left. A reflector on the right is being lit by a flash light to indirectly brighten that side of the scene.
