It's a clamp that holds the plant to the stick. Without it, the plant would not be upright.

André's wife borrowed my hair clip... Anyway, hair clips and orchids goes together. I don't mind them at all. I like the play of light here. Nice comp.

Yes, the light come from my favorite window on an overcast day. Maybe some day I will buy me a light that I can use anytime but for now the window serves me well.
