The corniest subject -- Take 2
I had already made two color photos of corn on the cob displayed in this thread and I wanted to make the photo shown below in a completely different style in all respects.
For those of you interested in the details of white-on white-photos, the definition I use, which is explained in Light: Science & Magic, is that the subject is displayed in grey tones and the background is displayed in white tones. I would not call this a white-on-white photo because the primary subject is lighter, not darker, than the background; I would call it a white-on-grey photo. For an example of what I would call a white-on-white photo, see this photo of pills, their bottle and bottle cap.
Setup
The tabletop and background are a single sheet of translucent vellum. A medium continuous-light lamp fitted with a diffusion sock to create soft shadows is in the upper left area. A white reflector on the right side of the scene brightens that area.

Hi Mike ~ I have to admit that the pill bottle pic was more interesting to me than this pic is. I guess I'm stuck on corn being yellow, crisp looking...... and of course delicious! But then that's just me! Everything about this pic is perfect but ..... it just isn't for me.
I do really appreciate your sharing how you set your shots up! I know I've said this before, but a second time is worth saying, because I do get a lot out of the "how to do it" info! Thanks!

Thanks, Sandy! I completely understand that no particular style of photography is for everyone. If this one isn't your cup of tea, that's perfectly understandable.

For a short while, Mike, I was perplexed as to what the rectangular object is to the upper left. Then it dawned on me that it is probably butter, ready to spread on the heated corn. Assuming so, I think that the butter is too perfect and should show some dissection or angle, that it has already been in use, and therefore would make it more interesting. JMTCW.
