    Easter Weekend Collection

Some of the best from last weekend's shooting down at the lake. We got snow then, too.

#2 I have been struggling with this one. Too saturated perhaps?

#3 Do this and the next look too magenta-y?

#5 I feel like I should be able to do something to make this and the next more interesting, but what?

#7 The warm cast was deliberate, but perhaps it is too strong?

    Hi Janis,

The weather fluctuations are intriguing and somehow not unexpected, I think we've gotten snow as late as May in WNY. Luckily, not this year and I read that the Northeast should be getting a heat wave at the end of the month. Regarding your images and your belief that some are oversaturated, could the problem be WB related?

Hi Janis IMO #2 is not too saturated but the FG rock is too big.The image might look better without it. I wouldn't worry about the magenta in #3 and #4, but you might as well reduce the magenta in the water in #3 if you want. I find the warmth a bit too much in the last one. For #5 I mainly added some clarity , reduced highlights, used a softlight blending mode and increased saturation in reds a bit. You might try something similar according to your taste for #6

John, yes, you could be right about the WB. I am going to try to edit with a white proofing margin and see if that helps me.

Thanks for the feedback, Binnur. I have only had time for one re-edit. I realize now my first version of #5 also had a WB problem. I think the colour at least is better here.

As far as #2 goes, the subject was supposed to be the block of ice on the rock, so losing the rock would be to lose the point of the picture. Perhaps I should have framed it differently to begin with.

I made a few quick changes to #7 after all. After watching a webinar on editing landscapes in Capture One tonight, I have made a major change to my workflow and am now working with two curves tools, one RGB and one Luma.

Thanks, Nandakumar. Which blue are your referring to? I seem to have more than a few. The sign is one of a pair marking out a section of the road where parking is not allowed. There is a beautiful beach on the east side of the road that is popular with day-trippers and the municipality doesn't want cars clogging the beach entrance.

My version after fixing the colors according to your WB. My version has stronger colors but this is just me

Nice, Binnur. I particularly like that you have brought out colour in the water and sky. I have so much to learn.
