Lovely shot... There are lots of ways to play with this shot but, I think that eliminating the vertical stem, image left might add to the shot by not competing with the fern head...
Very nice shots, Brian. These unfolding fern leaves are very photogenic. One of the first botanical phrases I learnt was 'cercinate vernation' which means having a coiled appearance in spring. I don't think it is a Maidenhair Fern (though this name is applied to several different plants). You can see that the pinnate (side leaflets) are lobed on both sides. The Phillipine Maidenhair has broad leaflets, on stalks.
