    Spring morning

This was two weeks ago. Spring was trying to arrive after a long winter (snowed on October 4 and stayed) Then it snowed again and now there is about 10 cm of heavy wet snow on the field; the access road is a mud bog.

    Maybe by mid May

Looks good but I think there is another scene to be had here by losing some of the sky and cropping to something like 16 x 9 ratio which gives a really wide panoramic effect.

I quite agree. So I did both when processing

I choose one aspect to post. I fluctuate between these, was a matter of picking one. This is the other cropped close to the aspect you suggested

That is what I was thinking about. The crop gives a much wider appearance and those wheel marks really guide our vision to the distant horizon now

Both versions work well for me Trevor. I was wondering if it would help to bring the shadow out very very slightly on the house.

Tried Grahame; the problem is the granary is made from aspen wood. It weathers to black in shaded areas and unfortunately this side is facing east so it gets only a bit of sun. Bringing up the shadow, warmth and brightness leaves it a weird, flat, plastic grey. Gave up as I was never content with the result.

    Good idea though!

Trevor, I prefer the second version. Would the first version work in B&W?

I processed both versions in black and white. I could not transfer to Nik Siver Effex, so these are the best I can do in Capture One. The first version may be be the same crop as I had to recrop the versions. Hopefully close for comparison purposes

Good idea, when I have some free time I will revisit this to see if I can improve on it.

IMO the color images are more powerful Trevor

    Re: Spring morning

But moving my screen edge to give a more extreme panoramic effect by removing most of the sky above that band of cloud the B&W version suddenly gets far more dramatic and does work for me.
