    Beware the shadows

We had a shoot night in my photography club - one of our members shoots Comi-Con characters, he was able to get a few of his contact to visit us to do a shoot session while they were en-route to a convention, the cost to the club was we provided the people with images they can use on social media - they do it for fun in the main - and so do we !

As previously stated I dont normally shoot people but decided it would be a bit of fun, my mental brief for my images was Comic Book, so instead of using the studio flash setup available I pushed the iso hard to get grain with a view to convert to B & W and shot hand help on a long lens inbetween the other people shooting. This guy is a Ninja - hence the title, I think it works as a 'comic book' style of image

Cosplay is a good subject to undertake; especially when you can add a fantasy element to the background. Nicely captured.

The biggest challenge in shooting dark subjects against dark backgrounds is getting decent separation between the subject and the background. That is the main issue I see with this image. That's what rim and kicker lighting is all about.

    Thanks John, appreciated.

Manfred , was not the idea - was to have a shadow figure, in effect the intent is a cartoon look for a comicon persona as a Ninja, they dont want to be seperate from the background the intent is to blur into the background

I like the pose and the grains. You have achieved what you aimed for.

When I was with a Meet Up group here in St. Louis, when we have models, we pay $25 at the door and for however many we have in attendance, I think the models divide the money amongst themselves.

Thanks Izzie, pretty sure I would not pay that much to shoot people :-) not really my subject matter at all.
