Who's going first?
Who's going first?
I would - I have shot my next portrait ...but still processing, you said vignette, like I've used it before in CS5....or CS anything
I've used it once in aperture......so it's a work in progress
well it appears I'm still first today...
Portraiture on the menu again, a bit windy/chilly than last time, so I was trying to get a similar feel to some of Colin's 'Hoody Girls' poses.
Miss F didn't like any with hood up, this one wasn't my favourite out of hands drawing coat up to chin, but we both liked it for the expression/pose.
The reflector was a bit low and to one side, shadow from hair on the right, but at least hair not all over the shop this time....
maybe 1 day I'll be happy with all the elements at the same time.....But I suspect I'll still find fault with something....genetic i suspect
anyhoo here she is
I agree it's lovely Raylee - very elegant
The second of your still life images doesn't feel so harmonious and balanced. Why?
What struck (and distracted) me immediately was the coloured strip running down the cup. It didn't have that impact in the first image. Because, I think, it was centred.
With the slight change of angle, that strip assumes a prominence that it didn't have before.
The first one is beautiful.
ps - Just rushing out. Off to a day's wine tasting in St Andrews (looking out over the famous Old Course golf course (life can be tough sometimes)

Rusty's markets in Cairns is where everyone goes for their fresh fruit and vegetables. New season Mangoes have just arrived but at $6.99 a kilo they are pretty expensive. In about 4 weeks time we will be able to buy them for $1 a kilo
It was pretty dark at that spot and contrasty looking out to the road, so I increased the iso and am moderately happy with the result.

One of 18 shot today (the others are here if anyone is interested).
Thanks for the feedback Donald. It's interesting to hear what other people see. In the first one I was looking at the colour and shape of the flowers complementing the mug. And I can see what Peter says about the 2 flowers balancing the one on the mug. In the second one, I think I'm focusing on the flowers but not the mug. I might try that one again with a different object - something simpler. Now when I compare the 2 shots, I have to agree with you that the second one is not quite right. Everyone's feedback is much appreciated. Thanks kindly.
Enjoy your wine tasting. The life of a Scottish laird is certainly tough! Maybe I can practise my Scots accent on you? "Donald, where's yer troosers?"
