    Bluebells

Its that time of year when the bluebells are out in the village and I spend a few days trying to get a shot of them that I'm happy with.

A couple of efforts so far......

Nice shots. I always find them remarkably difficult to shoot.

    I'm with you there.

These are the first I've been reasonably happy with in years I think because I switched to a longer lens and tried to isolate individual clumps. Thinking in terms of longer focal lengths changed the way I looked for shots and I think helped.

I think that #1 is very a creative shot. It is a worm's eye view!

Gotta love a Manfrotto tripod and its ability to twist itself in knots

Yep #1 for me - the colour looks more natural and they stand out nicely, the grass leaves really make it.

Really nice shots. #1 is my favorite because I like the few grass blades adding a natural look to the image.

+1, I prefer them a tad more blue (just my taste)

First one is more artistic whereas second one is more colorful and pleasing

The framing of the subjects in the first photo by the leaves of grass is really special.

    Re: Bluebells

I like #2 better. I think that a group of bluebells is more imposing than individual plants...

Thanks - I spent fifteen minutes cloning them all out then decided I preferred them as they were originally

    +1 to John's comment...now I learned another phrase -- worm-eye view. Thanks, John...

I especially like the first one, Robin. Makes me think of two adults talking, about the weather maybe, while the bored kid is pressing against mom, looking at the world passing by.

    Re: Bluebells

Both are nice, but #1 is far better, IMHO. It has a clear point of interest, I like the off-center framing, and the grass adds just enough interest to the nicely blurred background.

    I do have one suggestion, however. I would crop a bit off the left, perhaps making the right-most stalk 1/3 of the way in from the edge. It seems a bit unbalanced to me. Maybe something like this (I hope you don't mind posting edits);

I'm in the middle of a love affair with a 16:9 crop but I take you point and get what you're saying.

    Thanks.
