For Barbara Ponder...an action shot with a blur...

I went with Bill to a Chinese cultural event at the Missouri Garden and this is the closest I can show you of my sample of not really a total sharpness because the guy is moving and rotating very quickly most times. This was taken at a practice inside the Schoenenberg theatre as it was raining outside so the organizers cancelled the circus performance outside and brought some of their equipment inside the theatre. It was a short show as compared to the ones they had planned outside at the central axis area.



This performer is the oldest in the group. He is 26 years of age and very good at what he does--performing. I have a lot more shots but I just picked this one up as an example for you.

Your speed is very, very low, you should have taken it at 1/250 or more.
You 810 accepts without trouble to use higher ISO values. With my ex 800 E (I sold all my Nikon gears) I shot regularly at ISO 6400 if needed without real trouble, you could always make noise reduction in Camera Raw or LR.

I like it Izzie, you have certainly captured movement in the best place so it's not just another sterile frozen shot !

Izzie, I also like this image. The blur in his feet helps to convey motion in his body. But, I find myself wanting to see even a little bit of his face.

Hi Jean...when it comes to ISO, I tend to go as low as I can and adjust my SS and Aperture first and when all is lost, only then will I tackle my ISO. The place was very dark and only the people down the stage have a little bit of light. Most of them at that time of the shot were just practicing. The guy here still have a normal T-shirt on. In the real performance, he was wearing something else. I was experimenting at the time and this was one of my first shots. I found out that I can't use aperture priority or Shutter priority very well too. So I went back to what I know best -- manual shooting. It paid well later on when the show was progressing.

I have some more I need to process in this second visit to the Botanical Garden as they have shows that I like every now and then. On our first trip with all those flowers and such, we thought it was time to go back there to check out some garden ideas. We found that what we like at the time wasn't out yet, just blooms -- Irises -- so we decided to come back for the Chinese Cultural festival. At the time what did I forget to take pictures of? -- the Irises! I guess I got too tired of the constant rain... and just wanted to go home -- to relief of Bill. We had some French fries and dim sums for lunch though. That was good...

Maybe that is what George did with his shot with the tumbling guy...I'd wait for his response to learn how to do that...with a tripod, one can go very low on SS and still get the shot...but action shot will be interesting...
