Native Bleeding Hearts and Euphorbia with Fly

It's so good to be out in the garden again. The native Bleeding Heart blooms are ~ 1/4 to 1/2" long - I was amazed to find some very specific bugs that use the inside of the blooms for whatever they are doing. They don't fly away but seem ensconced and are so small.

Very nice images. Not sure what the bug on the Bleeding Hearts is. It looks like some kind of beetle with short wing-cases and long antennae.

Hi John, thank you. I love shooting flowers because there is always a surprise even if you can't see it at first glance.

    Most excellent work, Susan.
Can you tell us what kit you used for these shots?

Lovely collection. I could see #2 as cropped to a 12 x 9.5 ratio eliminating the flower at image bottom left. I could also see in this case, an ever so slight vignette. NIK Color Effect has a "Darken Edges" filter that allows a very slight vignette.

Hi Glenn, I shoot Oly 4/3, EM5 MkII. The Bleeding hearts were with the 60mm macro lens at f4 and f3.5. The fly was with the 12-40mm at 40mm (equivalents differ), f4.0. Thanks for your kind comments. I worked pretty hard to get these but want to give it a go again as the bleeding hearts change colors. In the future I will include the metadata.

Hi Richard, I went back and forth with the strength of the vignette ;-). I will look at that crop - I can see how that would be a strong presentation. Thanks a bunch.
