    Beamish Museum

We had a trip to this museum recently it must be twenty years since we last visited it. Wonderful place with reconstructed 1900's town and a Pit (Coal Mining)Village etc. This portrait is of one of the shopkeepers who was happy for me to make the image of him in the hardware store.

#1 Converted from colour as I thought it worked.

#2 I asked him how many times had he been asked for "Fork Handles". This was his response

For those of you who aren't aware of the Fork Handles reference. It's a reference to a two Ronnie's comedy TV show, if you're interested take a look at this sketch from the UK comedy show LINK

Its a great place, we're there every few weeks as its local and you join for a whole year. The kids love it and its spot on for images.

Pter...I as still laughing at that skit you linked....the first shot looks like a deer-in-the-headlights look. I like his smile on the second though...and since he looks like a fair dinkum Brit, that thing he put on the bench there is not a four packed dynamite, or is it really 4 candles?

Nice conversion. Good shots. Good job on the exposures. Interesting shop.

Both are nice captures but I prefer the second one because of the expression on the man. Nice touch with the four candles, or should I say "fork handles" on the counter. I love the link you included, it has been a long time since I last saw this and it is just as funny as it was before

Certainly suits being in monochrome. By a strange coincidence while browsing youtube last night we watched the fork handles skit so I recognised the reference immediately.

Thanks everyone, the storekeeper certainly seemed to enjoy his job/role playing. This was the hardware section of the rebuilt museum exhibit. There's also grocery and drapery departments. All of which were originally from the Cooperative Wholesale Store (CWS) in Annfield Plain County Durham. Transported from there to form part of the 1900's town exhibit at the museum.

Super nice monochromes Peter. I like them both but the first one is my favorite. The composition is really nice and his expression goes many different directions in my mind. I don't think I want to know what a Meat Dog Cake is.

Nice ones Peter, and a good choice to use B/W. Havent been to Beamish for years but it was well worth the visit.

Very good Peter. A piece of history indeed. I prefer his expression in the first image because it is a bit less "cheesy". However, my preference must go to the second image, where the background does not weigh on him, and impinge on him, on his right. Maybe you have some more from this take, as I would personally love to see them!
