Very nice Peter. I'd love to see this followed up with some closer shots...

Richard this is about as close as I can give you for this outing the subsequent frames to this became cluttered with other spectators as I panned right.

However if you're interested this LINK gives you information on when and how this locomotive was built.

Very nice shot Peter - it's got it all. The lovely foreground adds a lot.

I agree with everyone that this is a lovely mono photo, but the wonderful colours of the loco and carriage in your image of post #7 tempt me to want to see the first one in colour also.

    Cheers.

A striking image. You're timing was perfect--the placement of the train relative to the hills makes a great composition.

And finally just for completeness, here's my first image as Tornado was approaching the viaduct.
PS. I think my car is third from the right at the road side

Some very nice images here, Peter, looking that them all, I would venture that there is too much sky overall. You seem to have sky 1/3rd, Engine and train 1/3rd and forescape 1/3rd. You need to think "what does the sky add?" It is nice, but does not take us to the heart of the image. I would crop it as much as I could - without losing any smoke!

I like all of them, but most of all I like #1, the mono.
