Re: Oliver, Lilly and my little Viltrox flash...
Wow. You can't be unhappy with those results at any price, but for 25 bucks that's a triumph.

Re: Oliver, Lilly and my little Viltrox flash...
I am an advocate of flash used correctly and I am always looking for inexpensive solutions to allow our dog rescue volunteers to be able to add a flash to their camera. This is a pretty nice tiny flash that weighs next to nothing. It has TTL, manual and slave capability but, doesn't have high speed sync. But, for twenty five bucks, how much can you ask for? It is so light, at 140 grams, that you can place it on your flash and forget about. The little "shower cap" diffuser is a perfect accessory which can easily be carried in a shirt pocket. I have a Canon 270EX II flash which did a great job on my trip to China and which is very close in style to the Vltrox but, cost several times as much. The 270EXII does have HSS but, doesn't have manual control...
The Vitrox is also a nice slave to a master flash. I am going to do some testing using a Canon master flash on camera with a diffuser and holding the Vltrox with my left hand high and to the left of the camera/flash and pointing it at the subject for fill.
I am also going to rig up a three flash macro combination using my 600EX-RT as the master and the Canon 270EXII and Viltrox flashes as fill.
I have a "junk" box with odds and ends of equipment that I no longer use. One piece of gear is a flash bracket that will accomodate a pair of flashes. I will place the 270EXII and Viltrox on that bracket, each with a "shower cap" diffuser and use the 600EX-RT with one of these diffusers... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Po...oAAOSwYIxX44wo
I found out that I needed to elevate the small flashes just a bit, so I ordered a pair of tiny ball heads... At only one dollar and fifty cents each. http://www.ebay.com/itm/371823981886...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
The two ball heads and the two "shower cap: diffusers have cost only about six U.S. Dollars. The Viltrox cost less than twenty five dolars. The rest of the gear I already had...
