FINALLY! A break in the weather.

After a LONG winter of rain/snow/cold, and even more rain this spring, we have finally gotten a break in the weather. I felt like a bear coming out of hibernation yesterday with a refreshing drive along the Oregon coast. This is one spot we have not been to even though we've lived in Oregon for almost 9 years. This is Ecola State Park. The lighting conditions weren't exactly ideal for an awe inspiring photo, but, this is what I was given. The surf being up a bit added some needed drama to the scene.

FINALLY! A break in the weather.

I've never stopped there either - I will :-) Really nice shot and boy it does feel good to be out and about. I feel like an incredible mole person squinting at the sun.!

Wonderful composition and use of extensive depth of field. Consider applying a dehaze tool to the distant areas of the scene to determine if you like the results, though in this case the haze has a nice, misty quality that most haze doesn't have.

I agree that you have a really nice capture there, and I also agree about the weather being slow to improve, and great when it happened - albeit for about 1 day as up here in BC it has clamped down to a gunmetal grey day again.

Worth the wait. Both for the lousy weather to clear and to eventually get there.

I like the mist/spray off the the surf. Quite true to the conditions

Thanks for all the great feedback. I used a CPL for this shot and had to do quite a bit of PP. I had to boost the exposure a lot more than I normally do from the raw image. I did want to get the nice aqua-green color of the water and the contrast in the sky, which is why I used the CPL. Seems a bit tricky to shoot with those if you aren't used to them. What can I say, I'm an old school, simple kind of photographer. I'll be back to this spot to shoot during the 'golden hour'. That should put a lot of texture in all of the rocks/cliffs and should be a really good set of shots.

What else can I say that others hasn't? It is really a beautiful scene. I think your feeling came out in this shot too, you know the love of being out and freedom.
