In bloom but not in leaf

This was not the intended shot. The landscape is quite close to where I live, and is alongside the A9 a few miles south of Perth. Viewed from the road there is an attractive layering of green field, yellow rape (more than here) and blue sky, but getting to where it could be captured was another story ... I made do with this, largely because of the contrast between the bare, stark, tree and the other elements. I don't know if the tree is dead or just is yet to bud.

In bloom but not in leaf

    C&C welcome of course.

Yes, a nice composition of a simple scene.

Thanks Jean. That is a good point and one I did consider but felt that the brown ground fitted with the brown of the tree. However, looking at again, I'd tend to agree with you.

Nice one! I think I would agree about the cropping too.

If there was some nice cloud in the top left corner I would say crop; but with so much plain blue I wonder if the scene needs a bit more at the bottom?

Possibly lose half of the lower green strip?

Exactly. And that's a pretty sure ingredient for a great image. I think it works beautifully.

To me, a colour image should be about colour. But you still need and excellent composition to make it a good image. This works on all fronts.

I agree with everyone about the crop from the brown patch. It looks more of a complete scene without the distraction.
