    Let there be (F)Light

Thought I'd share a few shots taken earlier today. While the overcast weather did not allow for for shutter speeds quick enough to freeze the action of these Lorikeets in flight, it did provide an oportunity to try out a new flash head.

Underexposed BG to help contrast the birds. Still experimenting with correct (flash) exposure on these colourful guys. I think they turned out O.K. Wing blur looks good in some places and unsightly in othes - interested in your thoughts on that.

Also, couple of Egrets in flight from the local lake which has recently been refilled with fresh water after some serious local flooding in the wake of Tropical Cylcone Debbie, in early April.

    Thanks for looking, Nandakumar.

Thank you John. Glad you like them.

Thanks Binnur. I think your favourites are my favourites. I agree about the light in #4 - a bit harsh. Practice, practice......

    Yes, sure thing, Jim!

I just Googled 'Tui', so at least I know what they look like! As I don't think I would fare very well through a NZ winter, how about we put it off until September/October? Do you have a spare room or should I book a hotel?

    P.S. Kiwi's are awesome!!

Colorful birds on the first are better IMO, just reduce a tad the highlights, everything will be OK.

A delight all of them though I have to say #1 and #4 are my favorites, especially #4. Glad I got to see them.

I never ever thought of taking a shot of those parrots in flight even if we have them in my backyard in Melbourne...and the galahs too. Thanks for the inspiration...my favourites at the last parrot shot and the last egret shot.

Good work on the 4th shot, Chris, that's a tough one to catch with the bird flying towards you (speaking from failure).
