    Old Packards and Another Reality

We explored Southern Oregon for a couple of days and found old cars and dual reality - kind of :-)

    1. This is a cell shot I couldn't pass up. How many times did the muralist cross the street to look I wonder?

My husband spotted the old cars in a parking lot not far from our motel. Two old Packards and a Cadillac. I really wanted something arty but came up short. I could have spent another hour! So far this is the best I have. C&C always welcome.

    That first shot is great!
Scrolling down quickly it looks like the building is hanging out in mid-air.
I really like that fender line shot of the Packard. Seems they don't make cars with character like that any more.

I don't think you fell short. I like #1 just because it is cool.
#3&4 are good but I can't decide which of the two works better for me

Thank you both Alan and Mark. :-) Glad you liked them. As happens once you post you see something differently so I'm adding a different, and I hope better crop of #1. Cheers.

Susan, though I like #1, I would have seek the owner of the car in front of it and ask him to move his car for a while (like I will...) If mine, I will crop out the bottom of the shot that has a disable parking sign on the ground. It does not add to the story of the shot itself. My preference is #2 of the grill of the Packard. +1 to Alan on his comment.

Nice series and you almost managed to stay out of the shots.

Thanks Izzie, the disabled sign does just make it busy where it doesn't need to be. Darn car ;-)

If she cloned out the shadow It wouldn't be noticeable.

I'm not really into cars, but I was impressed by the trompe-l'oeil in #1. It took me a while to realize that the smudge in the centre was a Bald Eagle. Well spotted.

It was the eagle that made me slow down and really look.
I'm really not into cars either but I am into reflections. It is play that I just love. The cars, I have found, are also very challenging to shoot and process so that is good practice :-).

Easier said than done, for me - I tried on a couple in LR with mixed success. I don't really mind it - I'm part of the reflection 'show' and in this case not a weird blob so I left me in.

Nice, Susan! I agree you could get rid of the disabled parking sign, but as for the car, i like it there; I think it provides needed depth.

Kudos to you for the job on the cars; I don't think I would have the courage to try. Very clever, the way you minimized yourself. I had to look again to see you.

Thanks Janis - appreciate your comment. I may very well have another opportunity in the future for a reshoot but I do believe I caught the best time of day for that shot. You may be right about that car, it does provide depth and sort of grounds the building. I had a nice chat with one of the car owners but once he figured out I wasn't into cars he left me to my pursuits.:-)

That is kind of a tough spot to work on. Good practice though.
