Nicely captured, I'd say both especially if you are a fan of Stephen King's "IT".

Plenty of fine detail and well controlled exposure.

Thank you John. I have not heard of Stephen King's "IT" but I will look it up now.

This one gave me a good chance to play around with flash from just fill lighting to pseudo night time.

Very nice images Grahame. I'm curious about the spider's size. Is it a large species?

All of these are really nice, Grahame, each with its own compelling characteristics of color, shape and composition.

I would concur with this, but where is the red-orange patch?

It was around 75 mm span of the legs, top to bottom as seen in the image Randy. Not too big

The red/orange to the side was caused by the trunk of a palm tree Nandakumar, I thought it added a bit of interest to the image.

Thank you Mike. My position was fairly restricted due to vegetation but luckily a small change in angle allowed a major change in background further emphasised by the flash balance.

I think Nandakumar is referring to the background

    Re: Spider or alien?

Grahame, I always forget that one of you expertise are bugs and insects. Don't like spiders but that #1 seems to say "Take me to your master!" All nice and clear shots but I like #1 as that is the best of these lot including the background.
