I like it. The only change I would suggest would be to find a way to make the gap on the horizon (2/3 of the way from left to right) narrower as a way to take the eyes into infinity once they move from the boat to the horizon

Great image.
Is it a true picture or the sandwich of a long exposure and a "normal" pic at 1/125 s?

Re: Boat on Lake Taupo (experiment)
I like the overall effect, Jim, very nice indeed. The sky looks great.
The dark line/area on the left and the corresponding one on the right, are playing tricks with my eyes and causing the horizon to **appear** to be not quite level. I think it might be just an illusion.
Was there another boat/object in the water above and to the left of the boat that we can see, that you cloned out? That area of the water doesn't seem to be as smooth as everywhere else, and appears to have remnants of a cloning job there.
The overall effect is relly quite good.

Re: Boat on Lake Taupo (experiment)
I think it's great when someone has imagination and vision to create something and then goes ahead and experiments. That in itself is the achievement, no matter what the result. Trying out something different is how we learn.
The fact that, in this case, it has resulted in a fascinating image is a bonus. It looks sufficiently surreal to make it clear that this is art. It doesn't pretend to be a representation of reality. It's out there as a work in its own right and it's all the better for that.

A good example of what can be done to produce something that's different and appealing.

Re: Boat on Lake Taupo (experiment)
Many thanks for all your lovely comments (most anyway!).
Brian, I will try that - have an idea on how it can be done pretty easily.
Thanks Donald for saying that it is art, as that was the object, not to appear real.
Wavelength - I didn't think it would be to everyone's taste, maybe you are just not keen on art?
Jean - you are correct - it is a composite.
Chris - yes, I noticed just after posting that the horizon is not straight and have corrected. You are right about the sloppy cloning and I must fix that.
