Good idea Peter - I think he tried, but 'the man' seems to be otherwise engaged with chilled chardonnay, smoked slamon sandwiches and an amazing view...

    Autumn Leave and Barn

Hi all. Dealing with a hard drive malfunction at he moment. Will need to post one from yesterday using my laptop as I will likely not be totally repaired in time to do any photography before midnight. One never knows ...

    Day 12

It was the perfect autumn day for photos, today, and I couldn't get out and about! Well, I still took a plethora of photos. I'm going to post more in another thread and am just sticking these in because I want to know what you all think of them. (YES, it's a pic of my pet..... it just cracks me up for some reason.)

On, second thought, I'm exhausted. I'll post those other photos into a thread tomorrow.

I really like #1 Katy. The line of the trees on the left and the gully formation with the brightest spot in the background really gives this shot some depth. The lighting is great. Well done.

    Almost Packed

    Day 12: October 2010 PAD

    Canon 50D, EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM @ 33mm, f/9, 1/125, ISO 100, -2 FEC. Full EXIF, PAD slideshow.

It's 24 minutes past the 12th, but who's counting? Almost packed for tomorrow. The monopod barely fits in the suitcase. It would be nice if it collapsed a little more: it's about as long as my tripod collapsed.

All the black apparently had the ETTL baffled, hence the -2 FEC.

    C&C are always welcome.

    Cheers,
    Rick

Thanks Peter, the lighting is spots from a mirror ball blurred by the four second exposure.

    Have a guess :)

    Re: The mask

    Hi Folks,

I've been away for a couple of days (did ya miss me) (probably not!) ('cause I've been checking via iPad!)

I was thinking of you folks last night ... had quite a nice sunset in Dunedin, but all I had with my was my iPhone ... so that's what I used

This was the hotel I was staying at ... as luck would have it, there was a stuff-up with my reservation (there wasn't one, and they were full), but by a stroke of luck, one of the others didn't hang around and I was able to get her room

Unfortunately, I was on my own so it was a case of setting up the tripod amongst some foliage; using the camera timer then quickly climbing the ladder which didn't give much time for finesse. If I had a few 'extras' there, I would have arranged a suitable head underneath the brush.

And with regard to getting the brush to 'fall' exactly right. Remember, I was a fisherman for over 30 years; so based on that, try to work how it was done!

Dave. That moth is one of the Plume Moths. But they require specialist knowledge (which is beyond me) for a full identification.

    ROOT CANAL...

I didn't post yesterday because I spent 4-hours in the dentist chair thoroughly enjoying a root canal. I then napped when I got home.

Here is a shot of Eddie and Terah two adult rescue Maltese. I shot the picture right after their first trip to the vet. When we received them as rescues from a puppy mill (the owner had died - if you believe in a life hereafter; there are not fires in Hell hot enough for this uncaring person) their eyes were so caked that they couldn't open them. Eddies teeth were so bad that he couldn't close his mouth or eat. Terah had a lesion on her neck which had traveled from her infected gums. These poor animals were totally skin and bones...

    Day 12: October 2010 PAD

Here are these darling dogs today after a few weeks TLC. They are in sweaters because their coat (due to their malnourishment) is terribly thin. We have them on a diet of chicken, rice, sweet potatoes and beef all ground into an edible gruel since the vet had to pull virtually all of their teeth due to neglect. They are beginning to accept love and sit with me as we watch TV in the evening. They are able to eat now, as long as the food is soft since their decayed teeth have been removed. . I can feel that they are gaining weight whenever I pick them up.

    Facelift...!

    Day 12: October 2010 PAD

I work in a listed building which is currently undergoing quadrennial exterior painting. Somebody joked that this was Carine's birthday present (she just turned 50).

    She was NOT best pleased.

    haha
