Giving Macro a try, 1st test images

    Hi
I recently purchased a Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro (second hand),

I managed to get out and have a play with it today to try and get a feel for the lens and how best to use it(work still required in that department)

anyway here are some of the images i took, all hand held, (6 in total)
not award winners i know, but i am impressed with the lens and what it is capable of, from what i have seen up to now,

One image is a spider(just so it does not come as a shock to those who don't like them)

    Please feel free to comment/critique,

    Well done, James.

I'm just seeing 2 of the images (Nos 2 & 4). The others are not showing.

Anyway, good on you for posting up your images with the new lens. They look good. I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

Well at least the visible image (Foxglove flowers) looks fine. That is a surprisingly difficult subject where I have often ended up over exposing the white patches.

I fixed the tag of the second one, so now there are two.

TinyPic is being very unreliable again at the moment
I can't get it to work tonight, but was fine yesterday (when others were having problems).

Can see five out of six! Nice efforts!
Think you could have ignored the spider (out of focus) And the alium leaves a bit to be desired.. Ah! I see you've changed it. Better!
    Here's my alium ....

Good start James, point of focus is always key, depth of field is shallow with a macro lens so personally I always manually focus to fine tune where I want the focus to be - prob a bit late but 'Warning' - its addictive

James, for your first play with that lens some great results.

The fly is an excellent example of where the control of your focus plane is so important with the limited DoF you had. You have just missed getting the eye spot on, but, the result is commendable when it's within your first attempts.

For info, I downloaded the fly and easily managed to remove the noise without degrading the sharpness noticeably.

Take care of the DoF, very short with a macro lens.

A very impressive start! I look forward to seeing more.

Tinypic strips out exif information, so you sometimes will get more useful comments if you include the basics in your text: aperture, shutter speed, and whether flash was used.
