Nice picture. This is definitely a Dryad's Saddle Polyporus squamatus. I say this because in my recent posting of a Dryad's Saddle I was given an alternative identification of Polyporus tuberaster. Yours definitely is asymmetrical as a Dryad's Saddle ought to be. The scale patterning on the top, which is nice and clear, is that of the Dryad's.

Oh wow!!! I wish I can find some fungus or mushrooms around here since it has been raining on and off and sunshine on an off too...but I do not know where to look..this one is so beautiful. How big is this in diameter, please...

Izzie, John (four posts above yours) identified it as Dryad's saddle . This one was about 8 inches diameter, growing on the top of a dead tree stump in the local park. It was an entirely chance spotting - there were no other fungi of any description to be seen in the vicinity. Originally Posted by IzzieK
