I wonder if any anyone has told Google just how important the NIK suite is to professional and serious enthusiasts in photography. You get the impression that, in Google's mind, it's just another fun app to play around with pictures. It's so much more than that, but I wonder if Google knows that. Not that it would make any difference to its thinking, I suspect.

    This quote:

The Nik Collection is free and compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 through 10.10; Windows Vista, 7, 8; and Adobe Photoshop through CC 2015. We have no plans to update the Collection or add new features over time
is the same statement Google had on the web earlier.

I doubt that Google will care much about serious photographers. They need data about massive numbers of users of their various software packages, and we don't offer them that. But perhaps I am being too pessimistic.

We'll only find out if and when people with the relevant skills and resources contact them to ask for the code.

I think you are being realistic, Dan, not pessimistic.

I bought Silver Efex a few years ago. But I've now taken up Google on the free download of the entire collection, before it may disappear without any notice.

Until now Nik Google suite works well with Windows 10, you just have to remind to paste the google directory in the new version of Photoshop installed.

Large companies often pull the software its users love. Remember Freehand and GoLive? There are still people carrying those torches and Adobe is never going to address them, no matter how loud they cry.

The good news is, there are plenty of other active developers still putting out new, great software for the future.

I'd be lost. Wouldn't know how to make a B & W pic without Silver Efex Pro!
