Perfectly captured flower with excellent DOF. I think I would have been tempted to put a black cloth behind the flower to isolate it; the background is a tad busy and bright.

F8 is already quite wide for a macro shot, Izzie, unless you are going to stack several focus points. Otherwise you end up with a nice background but very little of the flower in focus.

When attempting this sort of scene I usually spend a bit of time cleaning up the background before shooting. Remove any light coloured bits of plant debris and anything with a definite hard shape. Also think carefully about the camera angle and is there an alternative which will give a cleaner looking background.

Thank you for all these advices. I will put these in my list. And yes I did stacking here hence the top lines. I regret not looking at that very well as it wasn't too evident when I saved it. I always use the script on Photoshop on stacking then aligning instead of photomerge as I find that I like better that way. I will start stacking several focus points and take my time. I am going out today for the Festival of Glass and make sure too that I have my CPL with me as we cannot make it to the night show...
