    Red bell pepper

Before putting the rest of a red bell pepper in the trash I took this picture with my 60mm macro + extension tubes and a LED ring flash used in continuous light .

    C&C welcomed

Nice, is that a sliced piece? Any shots of the skin side?

As I mentioned it's only what remains just before putting in the dustbin.
Next time I'll take time to shot before cooking

I like the strong graphic element (two distinct opposites: green and red; linear and curved shapes).

What is the tabletop and are the small spots and other tonal variations in it what you want? I ask because I would be tempted to at least try changing the tabletop to solid black to perhaps emphasize the graphic element of the rest of the image.

    Thank you Mike
As it's a first try on a brilliant black plate, I did not verify the "cleanliness" of my support, it is a ceramic cooktop.
I cleaned (not enough) to the deep black with a brush in LR.
    Your advices are always welcomed

    Hello Jean:

This image is quite striking. I confess I did not notice the spots until Mike mentioned it. I guess I do not have quite the eye for detail. I like the colours, contrast, clarity, and composition. (It seems everything nice about this image starts with the letter "c")

    Jean,

I find it surprising that you achieved such DoF using a 60mm macro plus 26mm of tubes for this size subject and this composition.

Hi Jean: I guess I was just thinking out loud. When I typed my comment, I said that I liked the colours, contrast, clarity, and composition. I then realized that every element I mentioned began with the letter "c". Hope I did not confuse you too badly!

I especially like the composition and intense colors in the second photo. However, the reflection displays some glare not present in the vegetable. That's probably due to post-processing the vegetable and the reflection differently when they need to be post-processed the same (unless you're obviously going for a surreal look).

As Dave keeps reminding me: Cleaning up the foreground often seriously improves a shot It could well be my tired old eyes but the shot seems not quite in focus?
