Macro, A little more practice

Hi

Sat out in the garden today watching all the little bees going about their business, so thought i might as well get a little more practice in with the Tamron 90mm lens (i need it)
also spotted a little fungi so had a go at that as well

Not got to grips with the focusing and settings just yet, but working on it,

Bees are a very difficult subject. They move faster than I can focus and there is so much variation in light levels between the light and dark areas of a standard design bee.

Fungi give you more to work with although they can also be tricky with exposure levels. I prefer to photograph them out of direct sunlight and use a tripod.

Very nice set of images...i am also in the pursuit of improving my macro shoots with tam-90

you are improving. I shoot Sony and there is a button I push to show me exactly where I am focusing. Then using manual focus I can move the focus precisely where it's needed. I would be surprised if canon didn't have the same feature.

Nice series , for me pic 2 is the best .Do not fear in PP to add adjustments such as blur and spot lighting to emphasize your capture. Also check out the many filters available that can enhance your captures .

These are all very good indeed James. I think that you are making the mistake of assuming that the soft areas in the images are because of a focus error when they are most likely a consequence of the shallow depth of field that is found in all macro shots. I did see that you had used quite a range of apertures - try sticking to something in the f10 to f16 range with this lens.
