We have an overseas visitor right now, so we decided to head out and walk around the downtown area. Unfortunately, the overcast and rainy conditions that we had throughout all of May are carrying on in June. The light was diffuse and the cloud cover was interesting (textured) for a time, so I took a few snapshots of some of the Ottawa / Gatineau landmarks with my Panasonic GX7 as we wandered about.
1. Kruger Paper Plant / Canadian Museum of History across the Ottawa River.
2. National Gallery of Canada seen from where the Rideau Canal meets the Ottawa River
3. Lock 1 of the Ottawa Locks looking up to Lock 8 (i.e. looking south). The Chateau Laurier Hotel is on the left and the Bytown Museum is on the right.
4. Taken from the Plaza Bridge looking down the Ottawa Locks to the Ottawa River to the north. The Chateau Laurier Hotel is to the right, some of the towers of the Canadian Parliament Buildings can be seen at the top left and the Royal Alexandra Bridge and Ottawa River can be seen in the background.
5. View of the Ottawa Skyline from Nepean Point (this is a place I shot from often). The Canadian Parliament Buildings, Rideau Canal and Chateau Laurier Hotel are all seen in this shot.
6. Royal Alexandra Bridge / Interprovincial Bridge that connects the Province of Ontario to the Province of Quebec was built in 1900. The Canadian Museum of History is seen in the background.
