Natural light made for a bit of a problem with blown highlights. A very messy bg made for more challenges. The orchid separated nicely from the bg. I took some well given advice and made sure the background was '0' black. I really like the subtle 'S' curve.

    Hi Brian,

I would be tempted to crop from the rhs and the bottom to make the stem come out in the lower right hand corner slightly below the lowest bud. But then, you would loose the subtle S curve

Point of focus, last on LHS, but the rest seems a bit blurred

The stem is about 6 inches long and there is a significant difference in location along the focal plane.

I don't drink but meditation can help with sleep. I just went out and measured the plant. There is a one inch difference in where the in focus tip is and where the stem leaves the shot. If I had moved significantly back most of it would have been in focus but the magnification would have been insufficient.

I've had two cups of strong tea bread and jam for breakfast and I still like the shot. How would you have sharpened it?
