Re: An update to my vivarium
I Liked them all; which bird laid those eggs? Is it an anthurium flower in the foreground(red and yellow)?

Re: An update to my vivarium
Nandakumar- The eggs are gecko eggs. It is indeed an Anthurium. My little geckos like to lick it for the nectar.
The more I learn about them, the more I become impressed. Their primary diet is insects and nectar. There is a flower in Madagascar that is pollinated by a certain species of bird. The bird has been pushed to the brink of extinction, thus the flower is also on the brink. Researchers have noted that those flowers near a certain shrub seemed to set seed. This had the researchers scratching their heads...until the found out that the shrub is a favorite of a certain species of gecko that likes the nectar of the endangered flower and thus inadvertently pollinates the flower. The role of day geckos in pollination is just beginning to be appreciated.
Unfortunately, many species of gecko are also becoming endangered, in several cases the only surviving members of some species are in captivity.

This is a very interesting experiment that you have. I only have seen geckos on tv and in the zoo in Melbourne…thank you for sharing…
