Follow-up to Manfred's photos of the Holi Festival

Manfred recently posted a series of threads relating to his photography of the Holi Festival. It was good timing that I came upon this article today explaining one photographer's approach to the festival and the resulting photos.

Perhaps we can convince Manfred to post links to his threads about the festival here in this thread so we have all the information and photos available through one thread.

Nice link, many risks and concerns when attending such a festival.

I did see a few photographers using the underwater housings. Most used rain covers with either a clear or UV filter on the lens.

Here are some of my Holi threads:

First of all, I think that Manfred's coverage of this event was outstanding. Many of them, IMO, were up to National Geographic standards...

Secondly. I think that I would like to attend that event. We have some "watered-down" (excuse the pun), Holi Festivals in Southern California which I will attend next year.

Since these festivals will be relatively local, I think that I will take a camera from my "junk bin". I have an old Canon 350D that is quite a bit "worse for wear" since I use this camera for events in which my gear could be damaged. However, the old camera, as bad as it looks, still captures decent imagery. I could add the older 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 lens and wrap the entire unit in an OPTECH Rainsleeve, duct taped at strategic locations. With a battery grip and a large capacity CF card, I shouldn't have to change cards or batteries.

One thing that I always take on a shoot like this is several cut up T-shirts in sealed plastic nags to clean up my UV filter...
