Tsemo Gompa, Ladakh (Landscape) - C&C Welcome

Hi, going forward on my photography venture I stopped and clicked another shot. Can you please review it and let me know what exactly is missing for it to make it much better?

It was clicked in Leh, India. I wanted to capture the vastness of the high contrast scene along with the sense of scale by capturing Tsemo Gompa. With the composition i really like the layers created by the contrast of lights and darks. Also, the shape of the bright cloud brings relation with the Tsemo Gompa.

Please provide your views and suggestion with composition, frame, crops.

    Thank You

PS : Please click on the image for lightbox screen view (Highly recommended)

For me Raj, I'd suggesting dodging the intermediate landscape 'layer' that is just behind the foreground one with white building on to lighten it somewhat.

    Or perhaps I'm being fooled?

I cannot decide if the dark peaks 'on' the sunlit slopes are a layer of peaks between you and the sunlit slope, or if they are shadows of peaks behind the camera.

    Confused, Dave

Nice effort, a bit too dark for me though.

Sorry i was away for days. Thanks a lot for your kind review and suggestion. It is not a reflection but the play of light and shadows in ladakh, India.

My problem with this Raj, is that the highlight in the cloud and the small building standing out as it does, compete for attention. IMHO, there are two really good images here. Cropping off the bottom slightly below the near ridge gives you a very dramatic landscape. Cropping the top half just above the second lighter ridge line, enhances the impact of the building standing out against its darker surroundings. But there again that's just my take on things.

I liked it very much, but having read John's comments, moved the image around on the screen, and yes, the version that crops out the light patch in the sky is more striking.
