    Two Pelicans

This photo was taken from a recent trip to Melbourne Zoo. I am a bit restrained by not having a longer lens so I cheated a bit by PP. C&C most welcome.

    Hi Ole,

I assume you don't just mean that you cropped it a lot

So; is it a composite of two shots, or did you just bring the subjects closer together in PP from the same shot?

Whichever, I think a little more distance between them might have helped, so the reflection wasn't quite so close to the rock.

If mine, I'd have processed the contrast/blacks/shadows so that the shape of the birds was distinguishable from the black background.

Hope those musings are useful, Dave

Dave, yes I had to crop it a bit. A 1.4 Olympus teleconverter for my 40-150 2.8 lens is very high on my list.

Dave, I have increased the contrast a tad.

Very nice image Ole IMO some details on the feather are lost in the contrasty version . May be something in between

I prefer #1, but if I can suggest, I would just cut under the body of the top pelican and keep only its reflection.

That's nice Ole. Cropping isn't cheating. I prefer the tonal distribution of your first image. The second loses too much detail for me.
