    The second time I've got out hunting insects this week! Rather a mixed bag!


    #1 Black and Yellow Longhorn Beetle, Rutpela maculata

    #3 Digger Wasp Crossocerus sp (Megacephalus or capitosis maybe)..... Havn't seen this all black wasp before!

    Thanks Nandakumar. I've been very busy this last few weeks and it has been difficult getting out. This last few days has got me back on track again.

    You definately are on track James stunning set , i think i had one of those black wasps today about the size of an ant ill put it on later.

    That Digger Wasp has a massive head so it could well be Megacephalus.

    The Xylota is probably segnis, the other one is smaller and rather scarce. From what I can see of the hind leg I would say your Syrphus is ribesii.
