    Other Worldly

Picked up a Jupiter 8 2/50 (M39) lens recently and got the adapter for my Fuji at the weekend so took it out on this evenings dog walk up the local hills.

Now its not exactly what you'd class as sharp wide open but the bokeh is really entertaining so these are more for fun than their technical merit...

The fun background complements the expression on the face of your dog very nicely.

+1 to Mikes comments also. The lens certainly produces an interesting bokey. Not one that I would want to use every day but nice to have for those occasional shots where it might be appropriate. I'm not familiar with the lens but the bokey is similar to that produced by a mirror lens?

Robin, these lenses are indeed fun. I believe I can pick one up for less than $40 Australian. Sometimes pin sharp photos are just not quite right.

Slightly different as a mirror lens produces an actual ring with a clear centre but similar. As you say not something for eery day but fun to have in the bag.

Exactly, sometimes its about fun and just having a play.

There are a few variation of the Jupiter 8 - earlier ones are meant to be best as they used Zeiss glass. Mine is a later one but still sharp enough for what I intend to use it for.
