    Street artist-Spring 2017

Taken earlier this year while I was on Queen Street in front of our Old Toronto City Hall.
As usual, there were a number of homeless people in this busy area occupying themselves in various ways. I noticed a man who was busily engaged in producing coloured drawings on the sidewalk, and was struck by the sadness in his expression, and the empty look in his eyes.
I asked if I could take his photo, and he kindly agreed.

This is a powerfully poignant image... I think that his eyes tell it all! What would you think about raising the shadows on his face a tad so the eyes would be more visible and a more potent force in the image?

The image was shot on slide film. I'd be willing to bet that the current look is close to the look of the slide. If I'm right about that, I'd leave it exactly as is.

I like the character of his face, Robert. A good street shot and with the background story you told, it is not offensive at all.

    Thanks Izzie.
I'm glad that you appreciate this, although I still don't understand why you find this genre to be offensive at times.
Is it the genre or the people themselves that offends you?

Not really...it is the situation I think. I am too emotional when it comes to seeing the pain of others being demonstrated in the in-my-face style. I hope you understand. Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately, homelessness is a fact of life, and in Toronto where we have a large population of people who live on the streets it is seen in much of the city.
