Surprise me!
Surprise me!
Peter has absconded 'to market to try a nice red', so it befalls me to begin again today..
Our Fashionista cannot sit for her driving test until she has accumulated 120 hours confined to a car with a fully licensed driver.
She is nearly there, but I will not allow 'fudging' of the log book, so off we go on random tours of the countryside - our usual route takes us past a lot of windmills and some canola crops.
Both of whom had their picture taken today... when the sun managed to elbow the rain clouds out of the way.
I had to go up to the Tablelands today, to help a friend locate his boundary for fencing. The job was successful but I managed to attract four huge leeches whilst blundering through the damp forest. When it comes to leeches I am a bit like Humfrey Bogart in African Queen - if anyone can remember that movie - not too keen on them, I'm afraid. Anyway my wife helpfully suggested that I should photograph the grisly sight for my PAD. Not wanting to gross-out fellow contributors I decided against this course of action.
Here is a quick picture I took at Lake Barrine. It is an extinct volcano, now filled with water. There is a lovely tea house where we regularly have morning coffee and enjoy the cool mountain air.

This morning I went for a walk about a half hour after sunrise. I wanted to photograph some of the fall trees in the early light. This one is just a few leaves that caught my attention because (counting the sky as blue instead of cyanish) all the primary colors are present.
Shot with Olympus E-620 and Zuiko 18-180mm at 71mm and f/8.0 @ 1/1000sec

Shot on the coast path going north towards Aberystwyth today. I had to get down very low with the Panasonic G1 with the screen angled so as to get the backdrop of sky behind the tree.

At Bahia Honda state park in Florida, a washed-up piece of tree.
C&C are always welcome.
Cheers,

Canoed down part of the Severn this weekend..hence late post, this shot is from our canadian at dusk as we arrived at Worcester to attend a 50th birthday party..the party hotel was on the bank so very convenient !
Would have liked to spend more time composing the shot but canoe etiquette means you have to keep paddling...so a one handed shot whilst waving a paddle about with the other...ho hum

I can feel the peace an serenity and hear the gentle lapping of the water coming up the beach.
There might, of course, be about 5000+ people just out of shot on the left. But your skills have conveyed a story and sense of place to me.
And because of the strong line between water and trees in the upper part of the frame, the picture can carry the old tree running right across the centre.
