Very well done, Sergio. I think you have captured something of that little girl's soul in this image.

Greg, at the risk of sounding like a soul catcher , I'm glad the image elicited a greater sense of depth for you.

Very simple yet nicely presented...You are truly quick on your mind as well as your feet getting this shot. This could have been an abandoned building she was coming out of but the floor is too clean for that. Good job!

Izzie, this was taken at Mission Concepción which is part of the historic San Antonio Missions. Several of the missions including the Alamo were designated a World Heritage Site in 2015.

We (my wife and I) had seen the little girl go into the room up ahead of us. Since I use zone focusing, I quickly moved to a distance where my subject would be in focus based on my current aperture and focus distance (40mm, f4, 10 feet). I knew there was only one way in and out and I could hear her running around inside the room. When it sounded like she was close to coming out I brought the camera to my eye and I was able to capture her just as she came into the light. The older woman (her grandmother perhaps) she was with just smiled at me as she walked out behind her.

Yes!!...well planned and quick slight of hand if I may so... I am glad that the lady taking care of here clearly approves because she knows you have seen a beauty there.

Deftly captured the moment Sergio. A second earlier or later, wouldn't have had the same impact.

Thank you for your encouragement, Izzie, and yes she is a beauty but also a handful I think. My wife ran into both of them later in the restroom and she said the woman looked rather frazzled.

    Thank you, John.

I watched a video in which Henri Cartier Bresson talked about how important luck was to his photography. He said you couldn't look for luck but had to be open to it and prepared for it. I think I was open to luck on this day.

    Sergio,

Since you live in Texas. I thought that this might interest you...

My G-G-G-Grand Parents emigrated from Ireland, became citizens of Mexico and were awarded Mexican land grants in South Texas in 1829. San Patricio (originally San Patricio de Hibernia) County was named after the Irish who settled that area on Mexican land grants. I have a copy of the original land grant certificate (in Spanish - of course) along with an English translation. That is a prized possession!

Richard, yes, I agree. A prized possession indeed. Thank you for sharing your interesting family history.
