    Monochrome Mini Competition #55

    Here's how it works ...

    - You good folks post MONOCHROME images in the thread (please change your post title to a name for your picture) (Click the "Go Advanced" button)

    - When we get 10 images we will attach a voting poll

    - After 3 days the poll closes and the winner is declared!

    - If you would especially like some critique after the competition poll closes, please make it known in the post

    Too easy eh?

Limit of 1 image per post, and 2 image posts per person.

If there are already 10 in the current comp, please start a new thread.

Does that mean the same in Canada as it is supposed to mean here?

    Re: Near the Uni

In the US and in the UK its common interpretation is crack sold in the vicinity or marks the spot of victim of gang violence. This certainly gives the image a more sinister aspect.

I like your inerpertation, but it's not likely I would exploit such a situation. I will change the title
    Thanks for the heads up

I'm just a simple little crofter from the backwoods. Never heard of this. Is it 'Near the Uni' that has the interpretation, or a pair of trainers (do they still call them that these days) thrown over some wires?

What I find disturbing about the image (it is a good image) is that I've just being doing some research for a planned visit, next year, to some of the WW1 battlefields of the Somme. Some of the 'not-so-frequently-published' photographs of that conflict do make you catch your breath. What this image reminded me of were the images of men blown up whose bodies were hanging over tree branches etc.

    Le Somme

    Monochrome Mini Competition #55

The barren landscape, the heavy, glutinous clay, the cemeteries littering the fields, it could only be Le Somme.
