    Duet and Ensemble

Near to Whitby there is a clifftop nature reserve called Bempton Cliffs run by the RSPB which teems with birdlife. Long wanted to go there and I wasn't disappointed. The Gannets in particular, were in evidence on the day.

    Comments very welcome.

    All X-T2 plus 100-400mm and 1.4 con.

Both good shots, John. Very clean and nicely framed. In the second shot, that gesture of the guy at the left seems to be just moving away from the flying one. Not enough room for him to move back because of the rock.

Please can one of the mods change the title to this post. It should read "Duet and Ensemble". Perils of posting whilst you're still waking up in the morning.

    Thanks John, thanks Izzie.

Nice series John, Bempton is a great reserve with excellent Birds in Flight opportunities. I do like the display behaviour in the first image, well done.

    Done

    Great shots John.

I visited Bempton last year, so gave it a miss this year when I was up your way recently.

Don't think I ever published any of my shots from 2016, I believe I shot 153 - what was left after the cull was 107, but most look soft to me (albeit they are currently just unprocessed RAWs), but after ranking, I seem to have just 6 shots I thought warranted 2 or 3 stars

I could try to blame the weather, the light or even my kit, but I think mostly my technique let me down.

    So well done,
    Dave

Those are super shots John, but #1 is special Did you change the BGs or are those the real BGs? That blue BG in #1 suits the birds so nicely.

    Thanks all for the comments.

Thanks Dave for Changing the Title. I withdrew "Solo" at the last minute. I spotted a halo that needed cleaning up. The beauty of Fuji's long X lens is its 5 stop anti vibration capability. My keeper rate has gone up compared to that I managed with the Tamron I had for a while. I carry a bean bag as well. Wear it like an arm band until I need it.

Binnur, the BG is natural. I was shooting from the clifftop down at the sea. What I can't work out is why it is a different colour from one to the other. There is a difference between the originals but it isn't as marked. However, no.1 is quite under exposed and perhaps the resulting processing has changed it in getting the birds right. Not sure.

I think the environment in the first image is just a little bit cooler John. And may be that's why the water looks more green in the second image. But no problem, they are both very nice. I believe that shooting conditions can change from one minute to another and effect the colors. Also different POVs might effect the colors. And , in addition, of course we do some tweaking in PP. So, I find it normal to get different but similar colors in a series

I have a feeling that you're right Binnur, particularly about the shooting conditions. The sun was occasionally covered by clouds.
