    Sweet and gentle

I was in this small town in Sabah for their weekend market. I was there looking for street portraits. This small size elderly lady was all by herself standing next to a pole. I presumed she was waiting for a family member to finish their weekend shopping while she was asked to wait there. I smiled at her and lifted my camera indicating I would take a photo of her and she smiled back.

I like this very much - face full of character and nicely captured, one question, however. You say "small size elderly lady was all by herself standing next to a pole" - that sounds like it would have made an interesting composition. Did you take a shot showing that?

Bill, thank you for being precise and it made me "wake up." I think I did (don't sound very convincing). The surrounding was very busy and I "removed" them and left the pole at the back of her faintly.

+1 to Bill's comments. I want to add that her face reminds me of my lola (grandmother) -- small but full of character.

Nicely captured. She remind me of my neighbor when I lived in the Philippines...
