    Free software from ON1

ON1 is currently offering various free software and Lightroom presets.

Yes, they do so from time to time, I used to use their ON1 -10 but then they introduced this new ON1 photo Raw and at that point I gave up with them. The software was extremely buggy and delayed in launching and at the same time I discovered the Nik collection and never looked back

Everybody's got their favorites of course ;-).

Nik is currently on its "Long Goodbye" tour, so have you planned a replacement?

Well the plug-ins are merely a means to shortcutting the base workflow of (in my case) LR and PS. I confess to really liking Silver efx from the Nik suite and if that goes it will be sorely missed. Most other stuff can be done with PS (LR) , albeit a little slower. I think it will be a longish goodbye though and I guess something better may come along in the interim.

Nope, or not because of any concerns about shortcomings in the NIK software that I use (mainly Silver Efex). However, there may come a time when it won't run on the current version of the OS.

With Google/Nik development stopped, it will only be a matter of time before it no longer runs on updated systems. But agreed, Nik is good stuff and it's a shame, but that's life in the world of software.
