I knew this book would come in handy!

I'm sure that given the time and effort required I could use this book to prevent this Morano vase having reflections. However whilst making this image I have realised three things:-

#1. Controlling reflections in shiny objects, to do so I need to create a table top set up that will give me the ability to control the environment and lighting.
#2. Adding water to the vase wasn't a good idea.
#3. The vase has a green colouration to the right side that I'd never previously noticed.

I knew this book would come in handy!

    What a wonderful idea!

Why do you feel that filling the vase with water is a bad idea? I like it.

Are you absolutely positive that the green tones you were unaware of are emanated from within the vase rather than being a reflection of something other than the vase?

Mike I initially thought that it was reflected light from within the room. I been trying to mask the area with various add hoc materials. However when I emptied the water and held the case up to daylight there's a green (ish) tinge on the right as seen in the image. To be honest I'd never taken a great deal of notice of the vase until I started to make images of it,as it usually sits on a kitchen countertop with two artificial orange daisies in it but without any back lighting. I wrongly assumed it was just a plain greenish coloured piece of art glass. How wrong I was!

PS. Sorry I forgot you asked about the water, two reason I thought it was a bad idea
#1 the water had lots of little bubbles
#2 having emptied the water out I realised it would be difficult to quickly dry the inside before my wife came home and found out that I had put water in her vase that had never had water in it before ;-(

Those can be attractive or not, depending on the look you're trying to make. I feel the same way about bubbles in inexpensive glass.

Now THAT's a real problem! Try using a hair dryer, though best to avoid using hers. I used my wife's hair dryer once and, naturally, that was the precise time that it caught on fire and was forever ruined. Alternatively, put the vase in the microwave oven.
