Re: 2017 Project 52, Third Quarter by Joe/ Joebranko
#9 of third quarter:
2017 Solar Eclipse.
Taken from Battlefield Park, Hamilton Ontario. As I did not have a special solar lens, I used my 50-250 lens and installed a 10 stop ND filter, then a 4 stop ND filter and finally a UV filter. For the exposure I just experimented until I got something I liked. The eclipse was a partial one and it lasted about 2 hours, so I had lots of time to play with settings. I used solar eye protection to locate the eclipse, then focused through the view finder and exposed.
Not sure why this shot disappeared, so I have replaced it.

Really great :)

Lake can be smooth or turbulent depending on weather/wind or location. This pic is from adjacent to Long Piont, in a spot sheltered from the open water

Solar Eclipse - Nice capture! :)
It rained around here..... :(
Speaking of Lake Erie, we'd fish for Walleye on the lake and go around 8-10 mile out. The lake is considered shallow where we would put our boat in. Talk about becoming a mess in a hurry! We had to watch for storms because the waves would develop in a heartbeat and make life miserable! It has been ages since we've been fishing there! I appreciate your pics of the lake. :)

Nice bit of action in the first image and those reflections in the second one give some depth to the overall scene.

I particularly like the boat house shot, Joe. Have you considered cropping down from the top to remove most of the sky?
Re: 2017 Project 52, Third Quarter by Joe/ Joebranko
Both photos are good. :) But then I've always like scenes that have water as part of the landscape!

#11 of Third Quarter.
Sunset at Lake Erie.
Went to dinner at the Erie Beach Restaurant . We left just as the sun was setting.

Initially this image looked a bit flat with dull light but it is much better when viewed with the Lightbox setting.
A small spot in the top left corner rather looks like a bit of sensor dust!
Re: 2017 Project 52, Third Quarter by Joe/ Joebranko
Terrific sunset. Geoff is correct, there is a tiny “spot” but it should be fairly easy to clean up. The pic would be picture perfect then. 😄 well done!

Wow! Made me jump! <grin> I like your pic. I maybe would have given the face just a tiny bit more light but yet again, it also looks good the way it is! Is this pooch yours? Bring on the treats!

Nice effort, a bit soft though.

Thanks John. I had the aperture open fully to try to blur the background, so the dof was quite shallow. I don't recall where exactly I focused, probably her eyes, so that resulted in the soft appearance around her nose. Thanks for noticing that.
