Triker gang portrait
Hello everyone, it's been a while since I posted here. I thought I'd share a couple of shots from a recent shoot with a triker gang - this guy has a look that begged to be photographed. Maybe more context needed? I really wanted to focus on him in the first shot rather than the machine. The second doesn't use the top end of the histogram but I found the contrast too harsh if I used the full 256. C&C welcome.

Re: Triker gang portrait
Nice set, in the first shot I think you could've achieved your goal of making the triker more prominent by just changing the angle of view. I would've shot from a lower angle making the triker appear larger than life.

Re: Triker gang portrait
I like your second shot Simon - he's certainly connecting with you or the camera. Nice shot.

Re: Triker gang portrait
Like both of these. I prefer the first one but my instinct would be to crop from the bottom to produce more of a letter box format. Both benefit from viewing in the Light box.

Re: Triker gang portrait
I like #1 but agree with John about the angle to make him look tougher with a machine like that.

Re: Triker gang portrait
Thanks for the comments everyone. On the first I didn't notice the hat until processing (oops!) but I agree with the suggestions to shoot from lower down.

Re: Triker gang portrait
Hi Simon, for me your first image needs cropping as the biker looking to the left draws your eye away from anything on camera right of him. Cropping to leave 3 focal points ( face, skull, hand) seems a way to go. Hope you don't mind the attached crop to illustrate, great subject btw.
