    Fishermen

First time out with the camera since my recent stroke. I managed to get the horizon straight!

The idea was to show the expanse of sea and sky and the fisherman provided the perfect additional ingredient to allow that to happen.

There is a small detail that makes the image so much more interesting for me than if it did not exist: the fisherman on the left is doing something with his fishing rod in stark contrast to the fisherman on the right who is only watching.

Congratulations also from me that you're back in the saddle!

I am glad to see that you are on your way to recovery... Have you thought of a carbon fiber (light weight) monopod to assist you in holding your camera.

Thank you for all the kind comments, both in relation to my health and to the picture.

I agree Mike. He was sitting down. I noticed he was about to stand up and felt that he might do something interesting. And he did.

That is a perfect way to return, Donald. The foreground is a narrow strip which isn't too heavy and everything leads on to an excellent sky. Plenty of contrast but nothing clipped.

The way I approach Kingsbarns (near St Andrews), I look out at sea and I could see that wonderful sky. I just hoped it would last for the 20 minutes or so it would take me to reach the beach.
