Canadian Rockies

We took a trip (labs in tow to a part of Canada we've always wanted to see ...The rockies in Alberta. Although super crowded due to summer and holidays, it was still fun and beautiful and the hikes were great. Here are a couple of photos from our trip up Bow Summit in Banff.
Never got out early enought for great light, so very strong sunlight made it hard to really do good captures.
Probably could have used wide angle for many of these, but wanted some closer ups. Changes in sky colors from experimentation.

Sharon, thanks for the post. My wife's family was from Edmonton and we spent a lot of t9in the Canadian Rockies. Beautiful place.

Have ou considered a holiday on the north coast of B.C. There are outfitters with small boats who will take you into true wilderness.

Yes, there are places we would like to hike into. BUT, your suggestion is very interesting as well. I will look into it, want to do some back packing this summer. We tried to get away from the big crowds this time and succeeded in some ways. We are big adventurers and so love the mountains. Our biggest thing now is loving to take our two labs. They are 10+ years old, and still doing pretty good but definitely 12 mile plus hikers any longer.

Hi Paul David, definitely a beautiful part of the country. We saw Calgary but not Edmonton. Would like to explore more of the areas in Jasper NP, which Edmonton is closer to I believe. I hear, for now at least, Jasper is a little less insane than Banff.

No 2 is particularly nice, Susan, the mountains on the left of this image are dramatic. I would burn the rocks (and probably the lake) at the front to add to the drama and not draw us away from the remainder of the image.

This may be a better representation of the drama of the mountains?

Edmonton is a nice city. Jasper is a lot less crowded than Banff. I like it a lot better.

Thank you Mike. The skies were quite clear and it was a beautiful time of the year. The haze is sadly quite huge in interior BC now (hundreds of fires).

I'd like to go to Edmonton. Still a big fan of Vancouver... that setting!!!
Yes, I wish we would have gone there part of our trip, but we chose a very busy time of year to go, so lots of things were booked far in advance. Next time, we'll camp or sleep in the jeep

Sorry for being late to this show. I like the last one best. It is a good composition including the two people with the scene but then I am weird like that. To me human element is a necessary thing that enhances the scene. I have a question though...are all these shots on a long exposure kind of thing or are the waters in them really that smooth? Just curious. I have lost my proper EXIF hence I asked and I am in my old computer.
