I would crop out a lot on the right, Sharon, to add to the dramatic impact. If you ask yourself, what does it add to the image, I suspect you would say, not much. The elevation on the left gives all the scenario that you need to convey.
The image seems a bit dark to me Sharon , I don't know what the other members will think about it though
Liked it; the comparison is very evident
Based on your previous posting, is this the Columbia Icefield area of the Athabaska Glacier? I assume this was taken during your trip to the Canadian Rockies.
Yes sir, you are correct . Very cool glacier. We did not take the "official" tour (doggies not allowed on buses), saw enough by walking it, which is better for us anyhow.
It's a poor photo. Lighting, focus etc were off (I was using my hubbies camera for this one, and left it in auto which is what he does). Would have been awesome to get a better composition.

Great composition! Consider lessening the blue color cast a bit to determine if you like the change.
I've never understood why anyone would think it's difficult to expose properly so long as one is using a histogram and has time to retake the photo if the histogram indicates that the first exposure is not ideal. I see that you were using your husband's camera set to auto mode, so perhaps that is a clarification that explains your dilemma.
Hi Mike
Well yes you are correct. Even with using the histogram (which in this case I did not as he sets his camera to auto mode (I'm trying to change him, honest), I don't mess with it because his camera is way different than what I use).
In some situtations, it is difficult to expose properly, at least for me. Big contrasts (like a black lab in the snow), etc. but of course I am still learning and that does make a difference. I'm sure I'll be learning forever. And histograms are not always perfect, certainly a guide, but ... and there are different theories even on what constitutes an appropriate histogram.
Nice capture.
Your conversion works well for me, though it would have also worked just as well in your original composition. The one detail you might want to consider tidying up is creating a bit more separation between the snow and sky.
